Dr. Abimbola Odukoya, D.O., or "Dr. O" as many of her patients call her, is a board certified psychiatrist and the founder of FemPsych, LLC. A Maryland native, Dr. Odukoya completed her undergraduate education at the University of Maryland where she majored in Biology. She relocated to New Jersey where she attended medical school at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine before going on to complete her psychiatry residency at Rutgers University Robert Wood Johnson Hospital where she served as chief resident. Dr. Odukoya has always had a passion for treating women. This was further solidified during her residency experiences which included working with female trauma victims at the VA and postpartum mood & anxiety disordered patients at local hospitals. She later worked at Penn Medicine Princeton House Behavioral Health's Women's Program; a trauma informed treatment program in Princeton, New Jersey.
Dr. Odukoya specializes in Women's Psychiatry, allowing her to provide treatment of issues affecting women's mental health throughout the life cycle. Driven by the core philosophies of osteopathic medicine, she believes in treating the whole person and considers biological, psychological, and social factors that may contribute to ones presentation. She started FemPsych with the goal of providing compassionate, reliable, holistic care where both physician and patient can work together in a relaxed and supportive environment. She believes that optimal treatment includes, not only medications but also therapy, lifestyle changes, and complementary & alternative approaches when appropriate. She believes in the importance of limiting addictive medications and also taking a collaborative approach to treatment by working with primary care doctors, obstetric & gynecologists , and therapists to help her patients.
While not working, Dr. Odukoya enjoys cooking and trying new restaurants, exploring nature, spending time with friends and family, listening to music, and binge watching Netflix.
